The image greatly diminished due to compression from 300mb down to 6mb, an annual event that brings lots of tourist to experience the wonderful colours of autumn and a sea of leaves.

Hunter Penrose.jpg

Dunno Why its lying down, but you get the picture, fortunately it was a dull day so Lens cap for exposure worked. Negative turned out fine, wont be a prizewinning shot but it works! Cooke VB LENS 32 inch F16, shot taken at F22 2 secs.

Re: Using shutterless barrel lenses

Thankyou for the kind words, but that is just what you do? Anyways Barry, my wife posted it this morning, remember when opening there are four small screws and one pin, the pin just has to be replaced through the shutter leaf slit and into the corresponding hole on the other shutter leaf and made se...

Re: Using shutterless barrel lenses

Barry, I found two one of which is 63mm, which sounds perfect for you. It had one shutter leaf floating and not working, so I have pulled it apart to check it and luckily the shutter leaf is still in good condition, just the pin with which they both pivot has come out. Now if you want it quickly I c...

Re: Using shutterless barrel lenses

Barry I'll check tomorrow after my trip to Tenterfield. I'm going to shoot my Hunter Penrose from the back of the van with 13x16 inch xray, with no shutter on a 36 inch Cooke VB series lens, gulp!
When I get back I will check the sizes and get back to you.

Re: Using shutterless barrel lenses

Hi again Barry, yep! I tried the "Galli shutter for a while, with the "big" lenses it is too hard to cover the end of the barrel hood with the darkslides, and not let light in, or too heavy to flick fast. I have half a dozen packards, not much chop, they stick! and speed is quite hard...

Using shutterless barrel lenses

Many moons ago I started my love affair with large format in 8x10 and larger, but found with my old brass barrel lenses such as derogy, jamin, darlot and the like, I was restricted to indoors. The xray film I use I normally rate at about 80 to 100 ISO, which is fine under artificial lighting and exp...

Re: Maxwell Focussing Screen

Hi Barry, it was very frustrating, swing focus adjustment was never an alternative, as you could not see out to the edges, so it was a matter of pot luck. I'm off to Tenterfield Monday or Tuesday to take pics of the autumn fall from the maple trees. Hopefully I'll be able to shoot a sea of leaves. T...
