Re: Dracaena, Rainy Day

Pretty cool effort there Maris, what with maximum bellows extension and what looks like not really bright light that possibly put you into reciprocity territory. The water droplets really make this and the lack of wind allowed you to get sharp edges on the droplets and thereby better definition of t...

Re: Clifftop Path, Alexandria Bay.

Quite the adventurist there Maris. With a 90mm lens, you are quite close to the action, that sea spray is so fierce it is easily seen in B&W, which often isn't the case. The tree roots in the foreground having that dappled light falling on them, makes this a better overall picture. Nice to have ...

Re: Molesworth Church and Flock

Being a Church, I didn't expect to see someone with a crook... :D I was intrigued with your mention of 1869, I'm wasn't so sure. To double check I found that the new Molesworth Anglican church opened in 1899 and found a couple of references here and there to that effect. Maybe the old church disappe...

Re: Pillar of Power

Thanks Maris, I think in time these will be everywhere and we won't even notice them. The 250mm was selected to give that out of focus rendering, enhanced by exposing wide open. I at first moved real close, but it didn't look right, pulling back gave a better view; at least I think it gave a better ...

Molesworth Church and Flock

I spied this as I was leaving Molesworth, it is located on the old highway, or should that be on the old road as even today it isn't a highway. The weather had been quite atrocious, which is being kind as it had been raining for around 20 hours. Having gull wing type doors on the box on the tray of ...

Pillar of Power

Cruising through a light industrial area close to home over Easter, foraging for things to photograph without any vehicular impediment, when I spied this. Shen Hao HZX45-IIA Ilford FP4+ D76 1:1 Fujinon f/6.3 250mm 23mm fall at f/6.3, no filter. A quite hurried exposure as rain was imminent, which se...

Re: Lake Doonella, Western Sky, Afternoon.

I thought, 75mm lens, 4x5" camera, darkening in the top corners, very even across the bottom of the photograph, must have given it a bit of front rise. Regardless, this one certainly stands out. I agree with you about the fancy centre graduated filter, it has made the 65mm lens super easy to us...

Re: Nude Reclining in Tree

Thanks Maris, I had totally forgotten about the original Chamonix bellows issue, I seem to now remember it was a bit of an issue for some people.

Re: Nude Reclining in Tree

The central triangle is what grabbed me, seeing the scrub and beach in the background looked good. I also thought the compressed calf muscle looks good. Took me a few seconds to wonder about the foliage being so bright, until I thought of infrared film; then I read your notes. I've never used infrar...

Re: Tom's Boat.

The composition with Tom's boat in the foreground and (Thomasina's? :D ) boat in the background completely capture one's eyes, the crooked horizon was only noticeable to me, because you mentioned it.
