Re: Good photo locations in Tassie (minus the usual suspects!)

Not a bad idea. Would love to go back for another look - with more water flowing than in 2002!

Re: Good photo locations in Tassie (minus the usual suspects!)

LOL !!! It would be madness to attempt a shot under those conditions. When I was photographing Liffey Falls, I rock-hopped into the centre of the stream and set up my 4x5 Tachi. Whilst absorbed in my work I didn't notice an older fellow trying to join me. My wife told me he lost his footing and fell...

Wow Lachlan, those are great images! I particularly love your Horseshoe Falls shot - very impressive, and just perfect for the wider format. By comparison, my 4x5 done in 2002 is pathetic. I've been waiting to see some of your results. Great stuff !!!

Re: Campania

Hi Alex, I see all your work on LFPF and enjoy it. You're certainly doing great work with wet plate, something I've never tried. I also particularly like your portrait of Jerzy on the antarctic ship. I'm surprised you've had difficulty logging on here. I visit this site twice a day and never have an...

Re: The 18-Mile Hole

Thanks Josh. The neg was a little hard for grade 3 in Dektol, so I used Ansco 120 which is a softer working. Sometimes I get it right.

The 18-Mile Hole

Cascades above a popular swimming hole in the Cann River, 18 miles from the town of Cann River in Far East Gippsland. 8x10 FP4, 480mm Apo Ronar. The exposure time of 1/5 sec was slow enough to capture parabolic traces of water splashes, which I find attractive. Contact print on Gallery grade 3. 18 M...

Some Photobackpacker stuff - FS or Trade

About five years ago I bought a whole lot of stuff including an F2 backpack from Photobackpacker in the hope of being able to transport my Linhof monorail with its lenses and usual paraphernalia. While playing around with various combinations I left it on the kitchen table to do some Saturday shoppi...

Re: Some Trees

Thanks Lachlan. I should have mentioned that the small mainland Sassafras pockets remain from the last ice age, before the mainland and Tassie separated. It goes without saying that all the best stands of Sassafras are where you are at the moment. Make the most of Saturday, as tomorrow's weather for...

Some Trees

I'm in a 'trees' mood today, not uncommon for many of us. Southern Sassafras at Errinundra Plateau in eastern Vic. A few patches of this species remnant of the last ice age survive on the Australian mainland. Beautiful trees with soft hued foliage. 8x10 FP4+, 480mm Apo Ronar. Printed on Gallery grad...

Re: Good photo locations in Tassie (minus the usual suspects!)

Take heart, mate. I think the forecast is improving. Good to hear there has been rain, so the waterfalls and streams should be good for a while. Looking forward to seeing some of your work.
