Re: FS: Tripods and Lenses

The tripod and head that would have served your 8x10 Cambo well have sold.

The lenses are still available if anyone wants a superb lens for their pursuits.

Re: Is a scanned bw neg really art

I wonder if something of the subtle beauty of film is lost. Perhaps it is the subtle beauty of the projected or contact print that is lost. That said; I believe that photography may be an artistic endeavour but 'ART' is an epithet bestowed by the world upon works that are found worthy. Up to thatr ...

Re: FS: Tripods and Lenses

I tried to ring you last night Alastair - without success.

Re: Leaves

Some, like me, think that resin coated is the digital of analog.

I reckon the rot set in with Variable Contrast and reached plaque impact with resin coated. I still long for the rich old Chloro-Bromide papers — Portriga and Record Rapid.

Not that I ever did much using it in a camera.

Re: Toyo 45 monorail

I could never do without a rail camera. If it came down to a matter of being only able to have one camera the Linhof would go brfpre the Sinar would. At $250 I think Andy Pandy's Toyo would be a great starting point for someone want to plunge into the murky depths of LF provided it is in good nick. ...

Re: The 8x10 is ready to see duty .....

The Toyo 810M is the best field camera I have used. There is one on Ebay at present I think that is very cheap. There are also some very expensive Austrian ones.

Re: The 8x10 is ready to see duty .....

Alastair, The Sinar stays and, for the moment, so too does the Linhof. Each has its strengths and weaknesses. Nothing comes close to the Sinar for precision and it is probably the ultimate system camera. The Linhof, on the other hand, is quite limited and has a multitude of shortcomings. But it is h...
