Re: Trees, Norfolk Island

Nice images, Alastair. I haven't spent a great deal of time in regions where those fig trees grow but they were the first thing I fell in love with and probably my favourite thing of all from my brief time in the Northern Rivers region of NSW. I would love to head back up that way and spend some tim...

Nice image Mick. I'm a real sucker for dead trees in water.

Yep. I remember this photo. Was one of the first I saw from you on this forum Maris. Still a great photo and made me smile with the cheeky caption.

Re: Already lusting after 16x20..

I've got plate inserts to do 5.5 x 14 panoramas, I still haven't felt comfortable enough to try that out yet. I do have a Rapid Rectilinear that covers up to 16x20. For my purpose it would be used for landscape work, there are plenty of cheap brass lenses out there that would cover the format. I thi...

Already lusting after 16x20..

I've had my 11x14 camera for not quite a year, made a few images with it but hardly put it to really hard work.. I've been struggling with getting consistent results I'm happy with mostly through just the natural challenge of going up in size. I only just recently managed to get it succesfully mount...

Well framed. Looks like a cluster of brain neurons or something. Subtle use of that filter too.

All my travelling wet plate chemicals/funnels/filters i fit in a plastic storage container that stays in my van. Silver tanks obviously a bit bulky. The camera and tripod is as mobile as i like. In saying that the wet process keeps my limited to an area where i can get to and from my darkroom (van) ...

January wet plates - Central Highlands & Midlands of Tasmania

Walter I can't imagine being able to get a lens much closer to the film plane on my camera unless the rear element is set back much further back than the front standard. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170115/16d7f0517e2a1e86f6db1de11a023229.jpg Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Re: January wet plates - Central Highlands & Midlands of Tasmania

Thanks Walter

it is a NikkorSW 120mm f/8

I had to order a recessed lensboard for the lens as getting any movements out of it is quite tricky. The rear standard is racked about as far forward as it can go.

January wet plates - Central Highlands & Midlands of Tasmania

A few images I took last week in the Midlands and Central HIghlands of Tasmania. Central Highlands looks promising and will explore the area a little more this week hopefully. 8x10 black glass amrotypes. Getting some use out of the 120mm lens at last. Really interesting perspective. Great for gettin...
