Re: X Ray Film

BTZS tubes, do they cause scratches? Surprisingly I have no trouble tray developing 8x10 and larger? If I don't use the Mod 54 (modified) I use an ancient stand tank that only allows 3 films at a time, but very economical. I have a smaller Kaiser enlarger that is used as an arm rest most of the time...

Re: X Ray Film

Hi Bazz, I don't know much about the Durst enlarger, but had problems with my De Vere 4x5 when I first saved it from the tip. The mirror, which is placed at 45 degrees in the path prior to the diffuser was old and gave me blotchy uneveness due to a loss of reflective film on the mirror, and I bought...

Re: Ground glass image

Great art Ray, they remind me of a Jim Galli's Eddie Lens on Tonopah pictures "'like an explosion in a mattress factory". I have got a similar effect (though a little more harsh) by taking a shot thru a Fresnel screen.
I think Maris description covers it perfectly, quite a wordsmith!

Re: Bellows fabric

I know some use it to calculate bellows factor, and realistically its the back end that determines the size of the image.

Re: Bellows fabric

I guess I should add that the aperture should be wide open, and you can turn the lens round the other way and recalculate to find the back focal length(which some would deem more important). To find the F stop, measure the smallest aperture of the lens wide open, normally where the iris or waterhous...

Re: Bellows fabric

Ray, stand in a dark room, with window or door that receives light, point the rear of the lens toward the light coming through the window. Hold a piece of plain paper up to the front of the lens and when an image appears sharp on the paper, measure the distance between the paper and the waterhouse s...

Re: Bellows fabric

The Hermagis, depending on actual focal length, which is relatively easy to calculate, could be worth its weight, I just sold a 330mm Hermagis Petzval for a tidy profit. Wow you seem to be quite a handyman that box camera looks great. The other, in desperate need of bellows, seems to have the uk sli...

Re: Bellows fabric

Ray, I had a good look at what it was going to cost me in time, materials and mistakes to make the bellows, I opted to have them made. Its quite economical to get them made, there is a maker in China I believe is said to do a good job, and the place I approached in the UK. Unfortunately my timing wa...

Re: Bellows fabric

Ray I searched for the site, but it doesn't seem to be active any longer. The name is Joe smigiel and he did have directions on making square bellows. I have the file saved but unfortunately it has no diagrams with it: Construction of a Square Camera Bellows Construction of a Square Camera Bellows b...
