Re: Snow Gum in Rain #2.

Philosophy aside, a nice image. I've always admired the way water enhances the tones in gum bark, Snow Gums in particular.

Re: Supplies of chemicals in Australia?

Good to hear other nice things about David. He was a nice bloke. (I'm assuming he's passed on by now - I can't remember what was wrong with him, but I recall it was some progressive neurological disease.) I've lived most of my adult life in country areas and when visiting Melbourne one time called t...

That's good news; thanks Oscar for the information. They seem to have just about everything we could want.

Supplies of chemicals in Australia?

I'm wondering if there is an alternative to Vanbar as supplier of photo chemicals in Australia. I enquired today specifically about phenidone, which is on the Vanbar website at $77 for 100g. I wanted to know if smaller quantities are available, as most of the formulae I know of use very small amount...

Re: Calypso

I saw this and the other image on the other forum. I think they're both amazing. I don't think you have to make excuses for either wetplate or portraiture technique. You're doing great work.

Re: Little Hampton Bus

Looks like you're on the right track Shane. I haven't done Kallitypes myself but I believe the negs need to be a bit over developed compare to silver gelatin. Your print looks quite good on the screen, but I bet the actual print looks much better.

Re: Grass in Snow

Nicely done, Maris - texture in the snow and I imagine detail in the grass heads although they're too small on my monitor to see clearly.

Re: Wet Negatives

Great idea Maris ! I used to have some great little pegs which had precise grip and never let go. I sold them (foolish me) with some darkroom gear many years ago and haven't been able to find replacements anywhere near as good. I have a couple of pairs of artery forceps (I'm a retired nurse) and nev...
