Re: Lake Doonella, Sunset.

"The idea is a direct crib from Hokusai's 36 Views of Mount Fuji. Stealing ideas from the masters is a form of homage isn't it?"

Yep, plus you did it with a Japanese camera to boot.

Re: Lake Doonella, Sunset.

I wouldn't say it was an odd thing to photograph a glorious colour scene with B&W film; perverse, may be more accurate.

Whatever your motive was, it is well liked by myself. Love the centrally placed mountain, which looks like a pyramid.

Re: Highett Menswear

I seem to remember, "Beautifully quiet in Highett", but it is decades since I've heard it played on the wireless. Not sure whether Sandy Stone had been born when he sang it, I think it was called the, "Highett Waltz". I agree with you about the comparative portability o...

Highett Menswear

I took this shortly before it was closing. The fella who owned the shop had run it for 43 years, I bought all of my socks and some other stuff from him for about 20 years. This shop was the only place I could get Australian made woollen business socks, which were about the best on the market. Shot i...

Re: Tennyson Uniting Church

Maris, I agree with you, which is why I chose to take it from this viewpoint. My first consideration was to ensure the water tank was in, then I wished to get the three windows on that wall in. My first consideration was the church, then I considered the hall, but didn't like either in isolation. Mo...

Re: Tooronga River

Maris, there are gaps in the vegetation, using one of these gaps I worked my way to the edge of the river. I knew what I wanted, which was the fallen tree approximately where it is. My tripod was straddling another log and rock with two legs, with the third tripod leg resting on the fallen tree; my ...

Tooronga River, Victoria. Shen Hao HZX-II A 4x5 wooden folder Fujinon 150 2' at f/22. Probably the first time I used rear shift in a landscape environment, 8mm of it. Mick. Edit, something went wrong I cannot view the attachment, will look at it to see if I can find the mistake. Found it, uploaded a...

Tennyson Uniting Church

This was a stop and drive back after driving past as we were looking for somewhere to camp; light was low. Very rushed to get it before the light disappeared from the wall. Shen Hao HZX-IIA 4x5" wooden folder, Fujinon 150 f/22 unrecorded but correct shutter speed, orange filter, Ilford FP4+ Mic...

Re: Rock Mills, Tea Tree Bay.

Thank you for that. (Don't have the camera reflected in the bottom pool.) I did wonder about that, but figured you were probably just far enough away with a 300mm lens. (Move slowly and carefully. This is a precarious spot to stand let alone set up a large monorail view camera.) Yep, been there done...

Re: Rock Mills, Tea Tree Bay.

Oooh, Maris, that is picture perfect.

Curves and reflections complimented perfectly by the tight cropping, add to that the small (ish) f/stop range means everything just jumps out at you.

I do realise you contact print, but one can still burn and dodge, was it hard to print?

Mick.
