Deathly redwoods and massive puddle

The redwoods near Canberra airport used to be a pretty amazing source of shade in summer, always felt like forests look in the movies. Now its almost all dead, which is a shame! So much rain recently has come too late, it seems. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51369533342_b680e061ce_b.jpg redwoo...

Old train

Was so happy on the weekend! 1) no rain, finally 2) found some good grit in Canberra There is a good railyard out the back of the train station here with some absolute classic carriages rotting away. I emptied a roll of 35mm there and took a couple of sheets of 4x5 too. Will develop the colour tonig...

Re: Backlit Weeds, Soft Focus

That is amazing and a bit scary... and I suppose quite costly.

Sorry to hear about the bellows, but this image is very dreamy and I like it.

Re: Charlotte Pass, Autumn Herbs

Nice one, Maris!

Unmistakably Charlotte Pass... what a place! Nice job capturing it.

The result seems very smooth to me, and i don't miss the top corners one bit :)

Do you remember which month this was taken in?

Re: Rock shelter

Something happening here, John, that gives me a sense of actually being under the overhang which was not what happened with the Foma version. That may well be aided by association of the overhang with the detail in the boulders at the base of the stump which seems a bit of an abyss with Foma by com...

Re: Rock shelter

Thanks Walter! Interesting to hear about your progress with technique there. Here is the same image on ektar, same metering technique. Interested to hear anyone's thoughts on the comparative dynamic range in the two shots? The ektar seems to at least keep up with and possibly eclipse the foma? https...

More ACT granite

More time in some of the ACT parks, more images to share!

Rock shelter

This was about as good a test as I could think of for metering testing, and I don't mind its as an image either. I took a spot off one of the darker streaks in the cave, set it as shadow and then a spot off the dead tree trunk as highlight and averaged them (with the average button :) ). Anyway, I d...

Re: Fagan Park Detritus

I have to admit to not being able to tell the difference between real and "arranged" historic things such as these! Very interesting to read about the giveaways, though :)
I like the composure here, Walter, and for whatever reason it look a hot day to me.

Re: Dutch Iris

Thanks Walter, will do. And yes, I see other images of this sort where a bit of softness plays well with tone gradient, that's a really good point... a lot to think about under the dark cloth! Hope you're having a good week mate. Edit: Just had a look, his images are wonderful. I already find myself...
