Re: Coloured Filters for B&W

If your looking for a cheap option I would suggest buying a $20 rectangular plastic filter set off ebay and just holding them by the corner against the lens when making an exposure. It works just as good as any other setup minus the ridiculous price tag. It makes me feel stupid for buying such an ex...

Re: Increasing contrast via development?

Thats a good question alexn, possibly easier to answer if I had an example or something to go by. I'll try help the best I can. Modern b&w film doesnt react to development changes as much as it used to 80 or so years ago. I use t-max exclusively and I find that you can only build up density in y...

Re: Brisbane Group Exhibtion

Sounds great Alexn, as long as they let us divide the space up. I've never seen it divided before, but if we stick to a specific theme like greater brisbane large format(ish) landscapes I cant see a problem. I'll shoot off an email and see what they say.

Re: Brisbane Group Exhibtion

I guess you could always hang a few long prints on top of each other to save space. A good thing about QCP is that everything from floorplan to prices is up on the website...something not so good is that its a popular gallery for upcoming artists so it may be difficult to get our proposal noticed. I...

Re: Brisbane Group Exhibtion

Alexn, medium format is fine, if you were going by cubic cm of film size I would consider 6x17 pretty much large format anyway haha. I haven't done too much research on galleries but QCP seems an excellent contender due to its great facility and specific allegience to photography.

Re: Bill Hensen at the Roslyn Oxley9 Gallery

ol' bilbo is at it again! On a semi related note I saw a landscape piece of his at GOMA and it was ridiculously dark to the point that it had lost alot of detail...not sure what he was going for with that print...

Re: Ooops.. artist caught out using stock images as his own

For me, the thing with art I find is either there's often a case of "the emperor's new clothes" or I'm missing something and I'm actually a Philistine. I'm not sure which is it. And particularly with this example, now I know how he's gone about creating his art, it would make me wonder ab...

Re: Ooops.. artist caught out using stock images as his own

I thought it was good marketing that he has managed to sell even one of his photos.
