Park Shelter, Deloraine

Park Shelter, Deloraine
Gelatin-silver photograph on Ultrafine Silver Eagle VC FB photographic paper, image size 21.5cm X 16.3cm, from a 4x5 Kodak Tri-X negative exposed in a Tachihara 45GF field view camera fitted with a Schneider Super Angulon 90mm f8 lens.

This old lens is not multi-coated, just a single blue coating, and shows some flare in the intense light passing between the boards.

Maris, the flare coming through all of the cracks is what gives this a bit of a kick; flare in this instance is good!!!

Must be about 5 stops difference from the front, great detail on the timber. If the below the sink plumbing had been with galvanised pipes, instead of plastic, it probably could be thought to be of a pre-WWII structure. That tap looks like older stuff, eh?

Single coating, probably the first version of this lens. I have a Schneider Angulon f/6.8 90mm which also has a single coating, blue reflection on the glass; I just checked.

Mine is a wonderful lens, but not quite in the same league as your lens as it isn't designed for the 4x5" format, but nonetheless juuust covers it. :D

I'm quite fond of the technical aspects of these kinds of photographs. Getting the exposure and development right to balance between the details in front of the light source behind it. Love the light blasting in through the gaps in the board that doesn't blow out the image at all. Is this Deloraine, Tas?

Yes, Tasmania. In the Deloraine Train Park next to the Meander River. A good place to have lunch and watch the trains go by.
