Oh, Mick, what a perfectly "art-directed" scene. The bush is wild but not scary, side lighting glows nicely, water reflects with barely a ripple, and the little birds are doing their thing like well rehearsed film extras.

Of course the camera work is perfect. It is you doing it after all.

But I also see a welcome counterblast to a recurrent theory that strong photography should be about heavy things: politics, social tensions, personal angst. Mick, you found beauty in the world and captured it unflinchingly. Thank you. The picture is a joy for me to look at.

Maris, you make me blush, I'm not that good, maybe a little bit lucky every now and then.

I do however agree it did look a bit like an art director had organised the scene, which is why as I was passing it while crossing a suspension bridge and had a glance downstream, I stopped and backtracked.

First time I've used a tripod on a suspension bridge, the slightest movement and a gentle rocking motion started. In fact I used my electronic cable shutter release thingy from Canada, while I stood remotely at the edge of the bridge on solid land, so as to minimise the rocking motion.

I cannot say I needed the remote control shutter release, but it certainly allowed me to get what I wanted with minimum fuss. There is a video at the bottom of the Reveni link.

Thanks, Mick, for the fascinating account on how the Reveni Labs Wireless Remote Shutter Release tamed the sway in the suspension bridge.
For firing a camera at a distance that gadget is a lot more convenient than my buzzy Auto-Knips self-timer or my air powered Pneumatic Remote Release; the one with the perished rubber bulb.

Now that the remote shutter release problem has been solved view cameras can become very convenient for long distance selfies. Mick, your audience might clamour to see you at large in the field at some of your exotic photo locations!

That very long bridge in the Google maps picture could have been photographed with the ends cropped off. Then it would have become even longer; endless in fact. Saw a similar thing in a recent railway station picture.

Boom, boom. Nothing like a little bit of cropping, eh!

As for long distance selfies, you never know. :o

Below pictures show my Reveni on my 135 camera, as well as my Shen Hao with my Komura 400T and my Fujinon SWD 65mm in a recessed board.
