Back Eddy

Image
Back Eddy, Snowy River

Gelatin-silver photograph on Ultrafine Silver Eagle VC FB photographic paper, image size 21.2cm X 16.4cm, from a Kodak 4x5 Tmax 100 negative exposed in a Tachihare 45GF double extension field view camera fitted with a Nikkor-W 210mm f5.6 lens. Titled and signed recto, stamped and annotated verso.

There is almost nothing there. The water and the flecks of foam seem still. But turn they must, however imperceptibly, to generate the swirl.

Like a star trail in reverse.

It bet it was tempting to make that creekbed a darker shade. Behind glass it probably more-so resembles the abstract image that comes to my mind.

There are versions where the creek bed is rendered darker and the result is certainly abstract. But finally I backed off and let the creek bed and cloud reflections remain recognisable: semi-abstract. It's a typical art-angst decision and not always for the best.
