Cataract, Mossman River.
Gelatin-silver photograph on Freestyle Private Reserve VC FB photographic paper, image size 24.7cm X 19.5cm, from a 8x10 Kodak Tmax 400 negative exposed in a Tachihara 810HD triple extension field view camera fitted with a Fujinon-W 300mm f5.6 lens.

This photograph was made a few years ago when one could just go to the river, set up the camera in a good spot, and make the exposure. Now there is a steep entry fee at the big visitor centre, an escort, and a shuttle bus for the last kilometre. The river, the road, and the jungle are just the same but times change.

The way of the world sadly Maris,

But you effort well rewarded, and the timing it would seem — not just in the big window of access but the micro window of time of day and modelling of the light on the subtle forms of the boulders.
