Noosa Bushfire, Aftermath.

The ground is still warm and the fire continues to smoulder in the distance. My wooden camera is safe from ignition because a fireproof aluminium tripod keeps it above the embers.

Quite hard to depict bushfires with B&W film, unless things are really scorched or there is smoke rising.

You have both of those elements, and the sparseness of the smouldering landscape gives this a further kick.

Fireproof aluminium, interesting. Does it go straight from solid to liquid? We had to replace an old steel fireproof door with a new timber fireproof door in the early 80's as fire regulations for volatile liquid storage were upgraded. The steel apparently would only last around 1 hour, whereas the wooden door lasted 2 hours.

Thanks Mick. It was a controlled burn on a still winter's day. The hard part was enduring the ribbing I got from the fire crew watching the scene.
