An entertaining balance of opposites, Mick.

Starting with the bright far-ground contrasting with the shaded foreground.
Then a distant band of rippled water adjoining a nearby plane of mirror water.
Look at the sedges on the right, white stems against a dark background, and then
observe the sedges on the left, dark stems against the light. Nice subtle stuff!

I checked out Whroo on Google Earth: lots of camera-ready possibilities combined with
lots of hazards underfoot. WooHoo?

I agree about the possibilities of dropping into a bottomless abyss. I walked from my campsite to the historical Whroo reservoir, checked out the photographic possibilities then started hotfooting it back to the camp via a shortcut to get my camera; not a great idea as there were holes, hillocks and some rather doubtful looking depressions everywhere, so I returned to the path.

Those sedges were what drew me to getting the camera out.
