Trying something different, not taking photos of sticks for once. Have to admit, whilst the change of scenery is refreshing from the hyperfocus on dead dead and dying trees, i can't say i'm completely sold on the composition on these photos. Interestingly, the 2nd one on the right the boulders are covered in red oxidisation which shows up as black in the UV-sensitive collodion images.

I really want to get another 355mm lens to cover this format, I shoot almost exclusively with the 240mm g-claron. I think the wide angle photos are getting a bit long in the tooth.

Those rocks in the second picture are some of the heaviest rocks I've ever seen. I mean visually heavy. Maybe it's the uncompromising ambrotype tonality, maybe it's the dark mass looming on the right that lends weight, whatever ... but it works.

The first picture is much lighter and gleams with luminosity extending to the horizon. I think it includes a distant rock that intrigued me last time I was at Bicheno. I'll have another look to be sure. Bicheno rocks! Or is that a cliche?
