Surry Hills Roofscape

Surry Hills Roofscape
Gelatin-silver photograph on Ultrafine Silver Eagle VC FB photographic paper, image size 16.3cm X 21.5cm, from a 4x5 Kodak Tmax 400 negative exposed in a Tachihara 45GF camera fitted with a Nikkor-W 210mm f5.6 lens.

You never know in the big city. Here in this tiny cramped view is more than a hundred years of history: from the old brick wall, to a television antenna, a new roof with a skylight, and culminating in a digital electronic sign importuning the viewer for $10.

Quite an interesting cityscape you have there Maris!

It is busy, yet at the same time quite relaxing. The top half is full of interesting things, with the electronic sign being the most interesting; $10.00 indeed, hinting of the era that you exposed the film in.

The bottom half is glorious, what with the pyramid shaped corrugated iron roof wonderfully shown in relief from the strong sidelight.

Bisecting these two halves, we have the lopsided antenna acting as the conduit between them.

A picture that makes you take a second look.

Mick.

Thanks for your insights, Mick. The few times I get to a big city I become a rubber-necking yokel made dizzy from lookin' at this 'n that.
