Former Glory — Wentworth Park, N.S.W.

Postby Walter Glover » 18 Aug 2021, 01:29

The crenelated tower, washing line and rear of a Georgian villa, now gone.

I used to take my mother to see this house, which she was fond of, when we went to get supplies of dead animal at nearby Glenmore Meats. Since I've been incarcerated they've gone too.

What a ruin, both picturesque and melancholy; so many details and stages of decay. And if I'm not mistaken there right in the middle is a little fig tree growing straight out of the stone wall. Well seen Walter.

Maris,
My preferred contextual shot shows what motvated my cousin, Timothy Schmidt, by a couple of weeks ago with his ubiquitous iPhone.

A fascinating sequence. The power of Street View shows 39 Bellevue Street has preserved and re-pointed elements of the existing stonework. Walter, the renovation looks to be mildly sympathetic to the original grandeur you celebrated in your first photograph.
