House Wearing Veil

A first encounter with this house and a camera. I only had the one sheet of film, but I'll be back with more.

Oh man, what a building. I'd be racing back to it too but with infrared film to make those green leaves really pop. Couldn't help myself.

Good idea Maris,

Only that I no longer have any IR film. What do you recommend that I shop for in 4x5?

This is by no means 'the' shot of this motif. I arrived with just a single sheet of film left in my bag and, somewhat uncharacteristically, I opted to do a portrait of the building with the 210mm rather than my more usual contextual pic with the 120mm. Maybe I was heavily influenced by wll the cars parked in the street, none of which were interesting.

Infrared film can be obtained. The last 50 sheet boxes of 4x5 Efke IR820 are turning up on the 'Bay at a tad over $3 a sheet. It delivers a strong Wood effect behind a $20 IR720 filter from China (also via Ebay). But infrared film keeps badly and loses speed. My 8x10 IR820 film is down to an EI of 0.07 with an accumulating fog level.

That 210mm lens worked well and the semi-tight framing kicks away distracting elements. Thank goodness the perfect camera set up point wasn't the middle of a busy road in front of the building. Or does that happen only to me?
