Lachlan... sorry I missed this post.

My housemate is a fanatical bushwalker and also excellent landscape photographer (dylanoswin.com)

He has covered so much of Tasmania and photographed them and has set up an incredibly impressive comprehensive website detailing many of the walks/hikes around Tasmania. The website is www.tastrails.com

I think you will be pretty impressed, if you are still not here then perhaps if you are coming back it might be worth having a look at the tastrails site and using it to plan a bit more sight seeing.

Wow Lachlan, those are great images! I particularly love your Horseshoe Falls shot - very impressive, and just perfect for the wider format. By comparison, my 4x5 done in 2002 is pathetic. I've been waiting to see some of your results. Great stuff !!!

Thanks, Alex. I'll have a look at these.

The trip was a bit of a bummer in the end; just too much rain and too windy. I was limited to cliched locations that were close enough to the car not to get drowned...

I did find a few places that I'd like to revisit, so another plan could be being formulated.

Thanks again for the information!

Your images are far, far from pathetic, Barry. And thanks for the comments.

Here's a shot of Liffey. Too much water to shoot.

LOL !!! It would be madness to attempt a shot under those conditions. When I was photographing Liffey Falls, I rock-hopped into the centre of the stream and set up my 4x5 Tachi. Whilst absorbed in my work I didn't notice an older fellow trying to join me. My wife told me he lost his footing and fell in.

When I said my shot of Horseshoe Falls was pathetic compared to yours, I was really bemoaning the poor water flow, and the obvious shortcoming of the 4x5 format compared to 7x17, which seems eminently suitable to the subject. Here's a quick scan of mine for comparison.

Maybe we should organise a group trip down there sometime?

Not a bad idea. Would love to go back for another look - with more water flowing than in 2002!

Nice image, Shane.

You've captured the "Simpsons-plutonium-rod" glowing green of the pond slime well.

Hard to believe how bright the green actually is!!

I took a 6x17cm on Velvia 100 that I haven't scanned yet; might do that soon.
