Best place to buy the Epson v700?

Postby L2obin » 30 Nov 2012, 17:37

Any recommendations on the best place to buy an epson v700? Reliable retailer with a cheap price around Sydney would be best =}

Here's what I did:

I searched around for a published price (within Australia), print out a copy, and took it to Officeworks.

They have that "Find a cheaper price and we'll beat it by 10%" promise, making it about as cheap as they get in the US.

Hope that this help!

Tried that but it's supposedly a special order item at office works which is in compliant under the best price agreement! At least that is what they told me! Anyone had this issue?

I looked at buying from Overseas, but there are very few that will sell you a V700. In the end, I bought mine from Inkjet city In Melrose Park (South Australia). They do sell through ebay as well, with a reasonably competitive price.

And yes, Office Works wouldn't help me either.

I bought mine from Inkjet City as well (last year). Although my V700 has since died, so now I'm currently organising to get it repaired [grumble grumble].

I did notice that the price for the V700 on Inkjet City's web page is less than they are selling it for via eBay.

I don't know the Seller; however, you can pay with PayPal and get their protection:

Crazy Sales asked for their URL to be removed :? Up to them I guess!

What happened to it? That doesn't sound good.

Not sure yet. It powers up, and you can hear the mechanism move into place, but it then does nothing after that; it doesn't respond to any USB messages, and there's a faint "ticking" noise which isn't normal. (And yes, I've checked the two locks for transportation.) It's frustrating because it hasn't had a lot of use yet. Later this week I'm taking it in for a repair quote, and then I'll decide if I should have it repaired or replaced.

It is frustrating, but I think I'm just unlucky this time; I'd still buy another V700 if I needed to, it's definitely the best tool for LF scans without spending silly money, and I still don't have a 4x5 enlarger at home.
