Stolen Toyo 45CF & lenses

Postby peterdegraaff » 14 Sep 2014, 20:02

I am absolutely devastated. My loved Toyo 45CF and numerous lenses were stolen from my car near Shellharbour, NSW. In the last 12 months I was diagnosed with cancer twice, had four major operations and have been hospitalised six times. Photography is both a passion and therapeutic for me. On Friday we had been to photograph wildflowers, and late this Sunday afternoon we were leaving to visit Barren Grounds to photograph more when the theft was discovered.

That's the worst Peter! I hope you find them quickly, and I'm sure everyone here will keep their eyes peeled.

Peter,

I am a fan of your work on Flickr and am greatly impressed by the volume of work you produce.

This is devastating news and I grieve for you.

All I can offer is that you should give a list of all the kit, thoroughoy described and including serial numbers to the Police. Also circulate camera stores and pawn shops on a wide geographic base.

It may transpire that the thief ends up contacting you with an offer to buy the kit back and thereby defraud any insurance. This happened to me 30 years ago. I played along and, together with assistance from the Police the guy was arrested as soon as I declared that I recognised the gear as my own.

That is terrible news, sorry to hear it. I'll post something up on the blog and hopefully it'll get more people aware of what has happened and to be on a look out. As rare as large format cameras are, I'd hope that might mean it'll show up on some sales site - eBay or Gumtree - and perhaps you can retrieve. I'll cross my fingers!
