Ilford LC 29 or Foma chemistry

Does anybody have any comments to shed light on these developers? Preferred dilutions?

I was using Rodial 1:100 for Fuji HRT Xray film i changed this to
LC29 1:70 and the results are excellent,I have a 4 litres and it is really simple to use.

When it came down to the wire, I ended up swallowing the freight charge and buying some RO9 (Rodinal) from Vanbar. But, having used HC-110 when it first came out in Aus in the 1970s I will get some LC 29 and enjoy a mild flirtation with it.

In recent years I primarily used Diafine which I love. I still have one unopened package that I can mix and use but, with reduced space, I am thinking something that does not require two 3.8 litre bottle might present a welcome level of convenience. I've already been out to Punchbowl and purchased 10 litres of lovely distilled water.

Hi Barry, I used the lc29 while I took photos to dial in the ground glass registry on my 4x5 and 8x10 cameras, it certainly shows a lot more density than RO9. After more testing I think the in-camera negs may be used for making my Kallitypes. Unfortunately I have not tested the acutance, as my gg screens where slightly out of registry. I wonder what the shelf life (opened) is? With Ro9 unless the container is vaccum sealed, It oxidizes fairly quickly and produces the white specs on the final print.

I use lighter gas which creates a barrier from the Oxygen, Butane is good also use plastic as a seal and tighten the cap securely.
