Printing paper otions

Postby Photomark » 28 Aug 2013, 10:14

Hello all

Have been looking at Vanbar site at photo paper and what is available.

Have always loved FB papers and have always used Ilford , the only reason I have always used Ilford is because it is available and I think it is a good paper but it is however expensive.

Vanbar also have in stock Tetenal TT Baryt Vario at around 50% less than the Ilford in the same size and quantity. $135 for a 50 sheet box of 30 x 40 cm is rather good value compared to Ilford at around $220 for the same.

Any one here ever used this paper and how it compares with the Ilford paper ?

I have used it. It is quite good. A bit more like the old Agfa.

Thank you Walter.

Thats enough recommendation for me to give it a go.

I see that the price is even better at larger sizes , at 40 x 50 cm, 20 sheets of the Tetenal is cheaper than 10 sheets of the Ilford.

At 20 x 25 Ilford appears to be cheaper.

I just hope it is still available next week when I go to get some, it seems that every week there is something that I can no longer get :(

Let us know how it goes. I just purchased 50 sheets (810) of Adox Varitone from Freestyle by a tad less tan $100.00 delivered.

I've just received 400 sheets of 8x10 Ultrafine Silver Eagle VC FB paper at a landed cost, everything included, of 81 cents a sheet. That's a good price for a neutral emulsion on a white fibre base that works fine in ordinary chemistry, responds to contrast filters -1 to 5+, and is characterless enough to not impose its signature on what the negative is saying.
