FS: Rodenstock 210mm Sironar

Postby Geoff Roberts » 13 Nov 2012, 16:19

Selling my Rodenstock 5.6/210 Sironar.

A bargain with a starting bid of $180. The is a ring around the edge of the glass hence the low price, but it has no effect on image quality. Only selling as I have acquired a Sironar S with a move to 8x10 in mind.

What sort of 8x10 Geoff, and why?

I have the Sinaron SE version of the 210mm and it is a cracker of a lens, but it essentially only just cover 8x10 on-axis with about 3 or 4 mm to spare.

Why 8x10? Perhaps only because I am a bit silly, but I do want to try it. I don't have a 8x10 camera yet Walter and it may be a while, but I am starting to put together some bits and pieces as I find them. I am hoping an 8x10 Arca conversion set will appear on ebay one day.

Well Geoff,

After months of dizzy dilly-dallying about like a good sort I have finally reassembled the Sinar 8x10 and am ready to shoot.

I put my Sinaron SE (Rodenstock Apo-Sironar S) 210mm on the camera and I can assure you that is does not cover 8x10 - even on axis.

A trip to Vanbar later in the week for a few trays and a washer and the wheels of industry will begin to grind once more.

Oh well, I am enjoying it on 4x5. 8x10 is only a dream for now.

Looking forward to seeing some of your 8x10 work. Have you put together an F or P?

It is the F2 that I showed on here some time back. The camera can still be configured for 4x5 if I should choose to do so.

Biggest part of the project is rearranging the darkroom to accommodate the bigger sheets. Thinking of biting the bullet for a Jobo CPP 3 - just have to weigh up the cost.
